Additional Updates to Hepatitis A Vaccine Outbreak Eligibility 

Manitoba Health continues to expand the Hepatitis A outbreak vaccine eligibility. As of July 5, 2026, a total of 867 cases has been reported in Manitoba in this outbreak. Eligibility now includes Shamattawa First Nation and those who may be travelling to, working in or hosting visitors from the community.

CPSM Amendments: Have Your Say

CPSM is requesting feedback on two proposed amendments to the CPSM General Regulation that the organization says are intended to reduce barriers to the licensing of internationally trained physicians. 

• Approved Jurisdiction Pathway: This would permit the CPSM to enable applicants from ​“approved jurisdictions” to be eligible for a full license. 

• Reducing Barriers for Provisional Registration of Family Residents: This would replace one of the requirements for provisional registration — at least three years’ practice experience in family medicine in the preceding five-year period — with a more flexible requirement.

This month’s Manitoba Drug Benefits and Manitoba Drug Interchangeability Formulary Amendments Bulletin is out. 

These amendments take effect August 1.

2026 Order of Manitoba Recipients 

Congratulations to Dr. Joss Reimer and Dr. Peter MacDonald, who are among a group of 12 outstanding individuals who have been honoured with the 2026 Order of Manitoba. 

They ​“serve to inspire us and reinforce that we all have the power to make a difference,” said Lt.-Gov. Anita Neville, chancellor of the order.

Physicians see firsthand where Canadians with heart disease and stroke succeed, and where they face barriers to care. Heart & Stroke is seeking your perspective to help increase awareness about future research, policy and health system priorities. 

• More than six million Canadians live with heart disease or stroke, despite major declines in deaths over the past 75 years. 

• The findings will help inform national discussions on improving prevention, treatment and care.

Reimagining the Doctors Manitoba Golf Tournament 

After receiving excellent feedback from physicians about how to improve our annual golf tournament, we will be taking some time to reimagine it and work on exciting new changes. Therefore, we will not have a tournament this year but look forward to seeing you on the links at the next one, set for 2027. We will be in touch with more details next summer.
