Land Acknowledgement & Reconciliation

Doctors Manitoba, and the physicians and medical learners of Manitoba, work and live on the Treaty Territories and ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations, the National Homeland of the Red River Métis, and the ancestral lands of the Inuit.

We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, we recognize these harms continue today, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.

Our Indigenous Logo

In 2022, Doctors Manitoba established an Indigenous-inspired logo to demonstrate our connection and commitment to health and healthcare rights of Indigenous Peoples. We use this logo on days of awareness and celebration, as well as those times in which we collectively grieve for the past and current harms against Indigenous Peoples.

Our Doctors Manitoba Indigenous logo was developed with the advice and guidance of Indigenous physicians, Knowledge Keepers and artists. Created by Indigenous-led Vincent Design, our Indigenous logo visually reinforces our support for Indigenous physicians, medical learners, patients and communities and our commitment to reconciliation.

We thank Knowledge Keeper Leslie Spillett for her teachings that supported this initiative.
