AI Scribe Webinar Recap
As part of our work to help doctors reduce administrative burden, Doctors Manitoba is sharing resources to make it easier to adopt an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scribe into your practice. This relatively new technology has the potential to reduce administrative burden by using artificial intelligence and natural language processing to help doctors with transcribing and summarizing patient interactions in real-time.
We hosted a webinar on AI Scribes Wednesday night alongside our partners at Canada Health Infoway and Shared Health, to help physicians in all practice areas get started.
Key Take-Aways
The webinar covered a variety of topics to help physicians in all practice areas get started, with key resources to help. Here are the key takeaways from our panel, which included Doctors Manitoba, Shared Health, and Infoway experts:
⏲ AI Scribes have several benefits. They can save you time on charting, support better physician-patient communication, and improve the quality of your notes.
📃Doctors have a responsibility to obtain patient consent, ensure their AI scribe meets privacy standards, and to review and correct the draft notes the AI scribe generates. Rules and guidelines are evolving, but understanding the scribe tool will help you to ensure you meet CPSM guidelines.
✔ Luckily, national requirements have been created by Infoway, who also has a vetted list of 9 approved vendors in Canada. This doesn’t mean other vendors aren’t compliant with these requirements, but physicians must assess them to ensure they meet privacy standards.
❓ Getting Started resources have also been created to help you assess your practice readiness and introduce an AI scribe.
🏥 AI scribes can be used in any independent physician practice. For RHA/Shared Health facilities, they will begin allowing scribes in primary care clinics, with the goal of expanding access to hospitals and other settings too.
You can watch a recording of the webinar on demand anytime. Over 200 have viewed so far, and 92% would recommend it to a colleague.

Primary Care AI Scribe Initiative
Canada Health Infoway has created an AI Scribe Program, which launches on June 10, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. (central). Eligible primary care clinicians can apply for a funded one-year license for an AI Scribe solution from the list of pre-qualified vendors within their region, with the confidence that the tool will meet the unique needs of their practice and align with their jurisdiction’s health system.
Primary care clinicians can still express their interest before registration opens on June 10. Sign up to learn more and receive updates here.
Here’s an FAQ from Infoway about the initiative.
This national program is designed specifically for family physicians and pediatricians providing longitudinal primary care.
