Saturday, October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for mental health, both your patients’ and your own, is essential.

Why it matters: Physicians carry the weight of their patients’ struggles alongside their own. Distressing events and daily pressures don’t stay at the office door. They follow you into clinics, homes, and workplaces, affecting colleagues and patients both directly and indirectly. Physicians, medical learners, and their families are not immune to stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges.

🔎 Doctors Manitoba is here to support you:

  • Through Doc360, Doctors Manitoba offers a wide range of confidential health, wellness, and support services for members at every stage of their career, as well as for spouses, partners, and dependent family members
  • Support is available for a variety of concerns, including mental health, substance use, burnout, workplace issues, relationship challenges, financial stress, career transitions, and others. Services can include counselling, peer support, coaching, navigation to community resources, and assistance accessing specialized care.

How to find help: If you need support yourself, you are concerned about a colleague, or you are helping a family member, confidential help is available.
