Well-Being Index a Valuable New Resource for Physicians
Members can now access the Physician Well-Being Index (WBI) through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), free of charge.
Developed and validated by researchers at the Mayo Clinic, this quick, confidential, user-friendly tool allows doctors to accurately measure six dimensions of their own distress and well-being. The CMPA version of the WBI is fully bilingual and provides a link to Canadian physician resources immediately upon receiving their results.
For Manitoba, this will be our Doctors Manitoba Docs360 range of services for personal and professional well-being, including our easily accessible PAR Online Intake.
Why try the CMPA’s Well-Being Index?
“Take a pulse on your well-being and track it over time by answering a quick series of questions. It takes under 2 minutes to complete,” said Dr. Alexis Botkin, the Medical Consultant for Physician and Medical Learner Health and Wellness at Doctors Manitoba.
The WBI now provides a way to see how your experience compares with your peers across Canada. This can be both normalizing and validating, said Dr. Botkin.
Access to the WBI is behind the CMPA portal, but your results are not connected to your CMPA membership. Data is de-identified and aggregated by the WBI. See the CMPA website to create your secure WBI account.
