Trade War and Medical Response
195 words / 1 min read
As you likely know, Canada and the U.S. narrowly averted introducing significant import tariffs on a variety of products earlier this week. For now, it’s only a 30-day pause and the potential trade war could resume.
While not a medical issue on the surface, there’s no avoiding the potential impact it could have on physicians, both professionally and personally. At Doctors Manitoba, we are taking a multi-pronged approach to assessing the impact and potential supports for members:
We are seeking your feedback about impacts to you professionally and personally in our Annual Physician Survey. You should have received an email about the survey Tuesday evening from our President, Dr. Randy Guzman. If you did not, please contact us at general@doctorsmanitoba.ca.
Reviewing common medical supply and equipment US imports, and reviewing Canada’s possible tariff response. This could include identifying domestic or international alternatives to U.S. imports.
Offering Manitobans reassurance about managing stress through economic uncertainty, with a new Getting Healthy blog post from psychiatrist Dr. Kurt Skakum.
Continuing our U.S. physician recruitment campaign with our site ManitobaMD.com.
