Doctors Manitoba was deeply disturbed to learn about the antisemitic and hateful incident that disrupted the HSC Hannukah ceremony this week. It has left the Jewish community feeling shaken, frightened, and unsafe, especially with the horrific antisemitic attack in Australia this week.

We unequivocally condemn the incident at HSC. We stand with our Jewish physicians and medical learner colleagues in pursuing a safer health system and province free from antisemitism, racism, and discrimination of any kind. 

The psychological and physical safety of Manitoba’s physicians is paramount to us. We continue to engage with leaders in the health system and at the provincial level to ensure concrete steps are taken to make Manitoba’s health system a safe and accessible one for all health care providers, patients, visitors and community members.
