More than 140 University of Manitoba family medicine residents, along with their families, gathered in Morden-Winkler from September 18 – 20 for the annual Family Medicine Resident Retreat, hosted by Southern Health-Santé Sud. Altogether, more than 300 participants explored the region while learning about career opportunities across rural Manitoba. 

What they experienced:

• Presentations from Doctors Manitoba and physician leaders. 
• A physician recruitment and career fair. 
• Panel discussions with local physicians about rural practice. 
• Community tours and opportunities to experience the lifestyle available in the region. 
• Cultural learning through traditional medicine teachings with Elder David Daniels.
