Doctors Manitoba joins our colleagues from Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority in mourning the death of Dr. Majid Zahiri, who passed away last week. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who worked alongside him, his family, friends, patients, and loved ones.

Dr. Zahiri was very committed to his community and a dedicated, compassionate physician, as Dr. Scott Gregoire, IERHA Vice President of Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer wrote in a message this week.

Dr. Zahiri received his medical training in Iran and graduated in 1995. With a move to Manitoba, he completed the Manitoba’s Medical Licensure Program for International Medical Graduates, and then began family practice with the Northern Health Region in the Pas for three years, before moving to the Interlake-Eastern region.

In September 2016, Dr. Zahiri began his practice at Stonewall and District Health Centre, providing both family medicine and emergency medicine services for the past nine years.

As Dr. Gregoire noted, Dr. Zahiri was an integral part of the care team in Stonewall, and contributed greatly to the region and province. His dedication to providing compassionate care to his community alongside his colleagues will not be soon forgotten.
