Manitoba Public Health advises all infants born in Manitoba are now eligible to receive one dose of nirsevimab during their first RSV season (October 1 – March 31), which brings some important changes to the immunization schedule:

• Infants born this fall: Starting October 1 through March 31, all newborns should receive the RSV antibody treatment in the birthing facility before being discharged.
• Infants born between April 1 and September 30: These babies will be due for a 2‑, 4- or 6- month appointment in October or November, so nirsevimab can be offered at the same time as other routine childhood vaccines at whichever appointment occurs during those months. 

In addition, children with certain high-risk conditions entering their second season may also be eligible in consultation with the Manitoba High-Risk RSV Immunoprophylaxis Program.

Any physicians and providers who are not offering nirsevimab to infants on their roster should still recommend nirsevimab and refer families to Public Health.

Physicians administering nirsevimab should bill using tariff code 8694: RSV – Respiratory Syncytial Virus Antibody (Paediatric).
