We are excited to announce a new AI Scribe Learning Rebate to support physicians investing time in understanding this emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The new rebate was approved by your Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors this fall: 

• Dr. Nichelle Desilets, President of Doctors Manitoba, explained that ​“AI scribes have a lot of potential to lighten the load for physicians, but we also have a duty to understand the risks, our professional obligations, and appropriate use. This rebate recognizes the time physicians spend learning before adopting them in practice.” 

✨ How it works: The rebate is part of our regular CPD Expenses Rebate program and is open to all physicians with a full license. The AI Scribe Learning Rebate: 

• Offers a $500 rebate to recognize the time invested in learning about AI scribes. 

• A $125 supplement if you had to contribute to overhead costs while learning. 

• The special one-time rebate is available once per physician in either 2025 or 2026. 

• The rebate counts toward your annual CPD Rebate bank ($4,000 for most physicians). 

Did you also incur expenses? Fees that directly supported your AI scribe learning, such as courses, webinars, or training, may qualify under our existing CPD expense rebate as long as they primarily supported learning and education. 

• Operational costs are not eligible, such as the annual subscription costs for an AI scribe product. 

Apply now! You can now apply for this one-time special rebate to recognize learning you’ve done anytime during 2025, and it will be available through 2026 as well.

Why a new rebate? As of last winter, only 6% of physicians reported using an AI scribe but 60% said they were interested in learning more or considering adoption. 

• This special rebate was approved to help bridge that learning gap and make exploration of this technology more accessible.

Bottom line: The AI Scribe Learning Rebate recognizes that learning takes time — and ensures physicians are supported as they prepare to adopt technology that could meaningfully reduce documentation burdens.
