New DI Viewer Coming

An Upgraded DI Viewer will be launched December 1 by Shared Health, part of a province-wide transition to Agfa Enterprise Imaging. Doctors Manitoba is sharing this update to help you prepare — and to hear from you about how the change affects your daily workflow.
- The upgrade introduces a cleaner layout and updated icons while keeping core viewing workflows familiar.
- As with any digital system change, improvements can save time — but they also risk adding new administrative burden. Your real-world experience will help us monitor the impact and advocate where needed.
👀 What you’ll see: A number of changes will be visible to you in the new DI Viewer:
- Fixed top toolbar: The floating toolbar has been replaced with a stable, anchored toolbar for consistent access.
- Clearer icons and spacing: Updated visual design intended to improve readability when navigating multiple studies.
- Tidier study list: Colour cues highlight the most recent exams and whether a report is available.
- Consistent Help menu: Now in the top-right corner, connecting you to guides and short videos.
What you may need to do: To ensure you don’t lose easy access, you may need to:
- Update bookmarks or shortcuts, as the DI Viewer URL will change after go-live.
- Log out and back in on December 1, using the new link to ensure all updates load properly.
- Use the in-application Help / Resource Library for quick reference materials, videos, and the FAQ.
- Learn more: check out this Shared Health page about the project, specifically the quick reference guides and videos near the bottom of the page. You can also review this Shared Health memo about the upgrade.
Big picture: This upgrade is part of Manitoba’s broader imaging modernization. While the interface is refreshed, Shared Health notes that day-to-day workflows remain largely unchanged, minimizing clinical disruption. The change, however, does not change the current fax-based system to send DI requisitions or the backlog at central intake.
📬 Bottom line: It sounds like you can expect a familiar viewer with a more polished layout. That said, we know that some digital changes intended to simplify physicians’ work can actually complicate it, so please let us how the upgrade works for you.
