New Claims Submission System from Manitoba Health
Manitoba Health is replacing the EPiCS/WebLink billing submission process.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: This new e‑claims portal replacing EPiCS is entirely web-based, one Manitoba Health Digital Shared Services says will allow more flexibility than the previous mainframe model, offering the following advantages:
Allow for multiple file submissions on the same day as well as weekends
Access past remittances, not just the current one — re-creates not needed
Historical P1 and P2 reports instead of just the current ones
Upload queries electronically
Upload supporting documents (such as operative reports) electronically
Web-based browser instead of previous black and blue screens
Direct link to the Physician’s Manual
Hard Tokens/FOBs will not be required
No additional cost for multiple users at a clinic
Weblink/Citrix will not be required
Additionally, a vendor API will allow Practice Management Software to talk directly to CPS without a separate logon, allowing uploads of claim files, supporting documents and queries directly, for system-to-system communication to streamline the exchange of information from clinics to Manitoba Health.
WHAT WE’VE HEARD: In our outreach to billing providers, we learned that this is a welcome change, especially the feature to upload supporting documents electronically. The change to a web-based browser instead of the previous black and blue screens was mentioned as a well-overdue. Providers we spoke with also said that no additional fees for multiple users is appreciated, as well as the ability to submit multiple times a day.
WHAT’S NEXT: A phased rollout is planned for April 1, 2025, when vendor systems are completed and ready. Clinics and billing agencies should have heard from Manitoba Health Digital Shared Services with information regarding the set-up forms required. Invitations have also been sent for an onboarding webinar on Wednesday, March 12 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
