First case of clade lb mpox in Manitoba
On November 22, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care confirmed its first case of clade Ib mpox, which is also the first case of clade Ib mpox in Canada. This is a travel-related case associated with a current outbreak of clade I mpox in central and eastern Africa. Public health monitoring of identified contacts is ongoing, with no evidence of further transmission to date. Improvements to Access Gender-Affirming Care
Earlier this year, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living announced important changes to how patients can access gender-affirming care in Manitoba. BreastCheck
No result letters will be mailed.
- Clients with abnormal mammogram results will be contacted by phone by BreastCheck.
Abnormal breast cancer screening result and follow-up testing information will be faxed to the healthcare provider.
Normal breast cancer screening results will be mailed to clients and healthcare providers once Canada Post operations resume.
CervixCheck
No cervical cancer screening histories or reminders will be mailed to patients.
Healthcare providers will continue to receive correspondence by fax.
ColonCheck
No FIT kits will be mailed.
Completed test kits must be dropped off at a Shared Health Lab, Nursing Station, or Health Centre.
Healthcare providers will continue to receive their patients’ FIT results from Cadham Lab. FIT results are also posted to eChart.
- No client results will be mailed.
Abnormal screening results will be communicated by phone.
Normal screening results will be mailed once Canada Post operations resume.
