Getting Healthy Hits the Road — And We’re Looking for Physicians to Join Us!
Our Getting Healthy summer team of medical students has been out in the community this summer, starting with a successful launch at the Canadian Immigrant Fair and Brandon’s Downtown Summer Market. These events gave us a chance to connect directly with Manitobans, sharing practical tips for healthy living and disease prevention while showcasing the expertise physicians bring to health and well-being.
We’re continuing to build our summer calendar and looking for physicians interested in getting involved — whether by joining us at a community event, contributing to our Getting Healthy Guide, or writing a blog post for the website.
👉 Have an event coming up or see an opportunity for the team to join?
Let us know! We’d love to add it to the lineup. You can also join one of our scheduled events at upcoming Sea Bears games July 17 and July 25, farmers markets, the Super Spike volleyball tournament July 18 and 19, shopping centres, parks, and more. Everyone is welcome to join a special “Rally x Getting Healthy” night with walk and run clubs at Assiniboine Park on July 30.
🩺 Interested in contributing to our site?
We’re always welcoming physicians to help build up our content, including in our Getting Healthy Guide that offers personalized tips based on age and gender, as well as blog posts about health topics and misinformation. This includes topics such:
- Reducing and understanding risks for diabetes, heart attack and stroke, prostate cancer, lung cancer, falls, and more.
- Common screenings such as blood pressure and cholesterol.
- Explaining health issues such as birth control, menopause, healthy weights, depression and anxiety, sleep troubles, and more.
