Dauphin’s new temporary ER is up and running as restoration continues in other parts of the hospital. The word from local physicians? So far, so good. 

• Local physicians, with support from Doctors Manitoba, had been pushing for a temporary ER to open in Dauphin, which typically saw 40 – 50 patients per day. 

• The Premier directed the ER to be reopened by Labour Day, saying at the time he was simply following doctors’ orders. 

• Ultrasound is now available too, with a mobile CT is expected soon in Dauphin. 

Many services remain unavailable: Many services are still not available in Dauphin, as physicians and health workers in other communities have increased their capacity while the hospital is closed. 

• Dialysis patients are currently receiving care in Brandon, Russell, Swan River, and Ashern, while chemotherapy is being provided in Brandon. 

• Surgery and endoscopy services are being offered in ORs across the region. 

• Labour and delivery services are available in Neepawa and Brandon. 

• Hospital inpatient services continue to be offered in Ste. Rose. 

• Many diagnostic services are still not available in Dauphin, notably CT & MRI.
