If you participate in Family Medicine Plus, we encourage you to consider participating in this cross-Canada study about new longitudinal family medicine payment models.
What’s Happening: Simon Fraser University is conducting a multi-province qualitative study exploring how changing remuneration policies and other factors shape workload and patterns of practice from the perspective of family physicians.
What it Means for You: Researchers, led by Lindsay Hedden at SFU, are conducting interviews with family physicians who have switched to Family Medicine Plus (FM+) in Manitoba to understand their decisions to switch to the new payment model and their perceptions of how their practice and workload may have changed since moving to FM+.
Why it’s Important: Doctors Manitoba is encouraging family physicians who claim Family Medicine Plus to participate in this study to share their views about the new payment model. While we continue to monitor FM+ closely, and we continue to hear positive feedback about how it’s transforming longitudinal practices, it’s important to get impartial feedback about the model from an independent third party, and this study will help do just that.
Individuals can register interest in participating in either or both interviews by completing the online screening survey.
