Statement from Dr. Nichelle Desilets, President of Doctors Manitoba

Doctors Manitoba congratulates Dr. Joss Reimer on being appointed as the new Chief Public Health Officer of Canada. Her leadership on COVID-19 vaccination, and in particular her respectful and informative approach with those who had concerns about immunization, earned her a Doctors Manitoba award and widespread gratitude and appreciation in our province. More recently, she has demonstrated strong leadership through her roles with the Canadian Medical Association and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority on a variety of topics, ranging from medical misinformation to improving access to care.

Her passion, expertise, and leadership are exactly what we need as Canada faces threats like the return of measles and other vaccine-preventable infections, and the rise of harmful medical misinformation. 

She is a fantastic choice and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the months and years ahead.
