The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) went on strike on September 25, following the federal government’s proposal to end daily mail delivery, close some rural post offices, and add more community mailboxes. 

The CUPW is still without an updated contract.

If you haven’t already signed up for direct deposit with Doctors Manitoba, please do so to ensure you receive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) rebates and other payments, as well as to avoid delays in receiving future payments from Doctors Manitoba.

What it Means for Your Patients 

Shared Health staff and clinics have ceased using Canada Post, including for the distribution of patient supplies, patient appointment letters, and pre-appointment information. 

📞 Patients will be contacted by phone and/​or email instead. 

📱 Patients with upcoming clinic appointments at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg may receive their appointment confirmation by text message. 

💳 Patients will never be asked to disclose financial information over the phone or via email. 

To help your patients avoid scammers, please remind them to not engage with anyone who says they require financial information before a health appointment.
