When processing claims, Manitoba Health may hold a fee-for-service claim and request more information regarding the service. Manitoba also has the right to audit past claims. In both scenarios, Doctors Manitoba is here to help.

  • Information Requests from Manitoba Health may involve holding a claim and asking for more information to support the claimed tariff. Information requests could be for a copy of the chart notes, an OR report, or other reports regarding the service provided.
  • Audits conducted through Manitoba Finance are more formal and can require chart reviews or additional documentation.

Here to help: Getting a request from provincial authorities for a patient’s chart can feel concerning and unsettling. Our team is experienced with this and here to help.

  • We strongly encourage you to reach out to let us know when this happens. We can assist in navigating the request or audit.
  • If a claim is refused, there are established processes to challenge the decision.

Strong, clear charting is always your best protection. Ensure documentation shows the clinical nature of the visit and how it aligns with the tariff billed. Keep notes specific, objective, and tied directly to the service provided.

Bottom line: You don’t need to navigate this alone. Email us in confidence at practiceadvice@doctorsmanitoba.ca.
