Mentorship Programs:
Doctors Manitoba:
Doctors Manitoba, in collaboration with MMSA, PARIM, and UGME Student Affairs has developed a Mentorship Program that provides connection opportunities for students, residents and practicing physicians. Participation as a mentor or mentee contributes to changing medical culture and will aid in bridging the gap between medical learners and practicing physicians. Development has included consultations with medical learners and mentors, and other mentorship programs across Canada.
WISDOM:
Women In Science: Development, Outreach and Mentorship (WISDOM), works to connect, mentor and advocate on behalf of Manitoba’s academic women in science. We also strive to inspire innovation and excellence through positive role models and outreach programs. The WISDOM Longitudinal Mentorship Program was created by learners for learners, with the goal of connecting RFHS’ learners (professional undergraduate programs, masters, PhD, and postdoctoral fellows) to faculty members, who identify as a woman. We aim to bridge the gap between women faculty and learners by creating meaningful, long-lasting relationships that facilitate learner growth. We have a group structure to create a community of support and peer mentorship.
Ongomiizwin Education:
The Pimose ta program at Ongomiizwin — Education connects First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students with mentors in the university and health professions. Our mentors support you in exploring career options and building connections within Indigenous culture and the professional realm. This program empowers you to navigate academic and professional challenges, providing the resources necessary for your success.
UM College of Medicine:
