Health misinformation is one of the most pressing challenges facing modern medicine. From viral social media posts to misleading headlines, inaccurate health information can undermine patient care, erode trust in physicians, and destabilize public health efforts. This workshop provides physicians and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to address misinformation effectively — while protecting their own well-being.

Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, this workshop guides participants through three interconnected dimensions of health misinformation.

This is a half-day course accredited for up to 3.5 hours.

This course can be delivered in either virtual or in-person format.

Learning outcomes

• Identify common sources and patterns of health misinformation and understand their impact on patient care and public health. 

• Analyze the physician-patient dynamic to recognize how these interactions can exacerbate misinformation. 

• Apply reframing and deep canvassing techniques to foster constructive dialogue and correct misconceptions without alienating patients. 

• Develop strategies for responsible social media engagement that amplify accurate information while minimizing burnout and online harassment.
