Two Intern Positions Available
Overview: Doctors Manitoba is seeking two enthusiastic and motivated medical students to support our Getting Healthy initiative, an online resource designed to help Manitobans prevent disease and live longer and healthier lives. This summer role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public health awareness while building skills in health promotion, content creation, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Development: Create evidence-based, positive, and engaging blog posts for the GettingHealthy.ca website, focusing on practical tips for healthy living.
- Social Media Outreach: Develop fun and creative social media content, in collaboration with our marketing intern and communications team, to promote the initiative and connect with a broader audience.
- Event Representation: Act as a brand ambassador for GettingHealthy.ca at summer festivals, events, and destinations. This includes:
- Setting up and managing interactive stations or activities.
- Engaging with the public to share information about the initiative and encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
- Community Engagement: Collect feedback from event attendees to help improve the initiative’s resources and outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
- Current pre-clerkship student in good standing at Max Rady College of Medicine.
- Interest in public health and health promotion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience or familiarity with content creation (e.g., writing, social media) is an asset.
- Enthusiasm for engaging with diverse audiences in group and community settings.
- Candidates should have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
Details:
- Duration: 9 – 10 weeks from June to August, scheduled around any medical school requirements.
- Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Our office hours are typically 830 – 430 M‑F, however the interns will be expected to adjust their hours to include some evenings and weekends where required to attend events or attractions.
- Location: Interns will be expected to work at our Winnipeg Island Lakes office (20 Desjardins), as well as attend multiple community events and public attractions across the province.

Compensation & Benefits
This internship will pay $25 / hour, with an expectation of 9 – 10 weeks of work from June to August, aligning with medical students’ summer break. There are opportunities for unpaid breaks during the internship to support vacation plans.
