Dr. Jagmit Arneja has practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Manitoba for 41 years. She is an Assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Manitoba. She has served as Site Director at the Victoria General Hospital for four years and Section head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Section of Doctors Manitoba (then MMA) for six years. She was a partner at St. Boniface Clinic from 1977 – 2018.

Over the course of her career, she has delivered over 5000 babies at teaching and community hospitals and has improved the quality of life for several thousand patients with gynecological issues. She was the first female Gynecologist in Manitoba to perform minimally invasive hysterectomies at Victoria General Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and Women’s Hospital. She has also derived much joy in being involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a major focus on vaginal, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, colposcopy and laser surgery.

Dr. Arneja was also actively involved in administration, participating in various committees as well as acting as Chairperson of the Gynecology Standards Committee. She was a member of the WRHA Gynecology Endoscopy Committee, member of the Urogyne Committee, member of the Search Committee of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, and member of the APO committee. Although primarily a clinician, she has been an active member of Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada’s Clinical Practice Guideline Committee, contributing to the committee’s evidenced based published guidelines.

Dr. Arneja was born in India and graduated in 1968 from MGM Medical College, Indore, India. She immigrated to Winnipeg in 1971 and completed her Internship, Residency and obtained fellowship from the RCPSC in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1976.

Dr. Allan Becker is recognized internationally as a leader in pediatric allergy and asthma research, care and education. He was a founding member of the Canadian Network for Asthma Care and led development of national Certification for Asthma Educators – the 1^st such national certification in the world. Dr. Becker led development of an Asthma Educator Education Program, AsthmaTrec, which is now used across Canada. Dr. Becker was lead author of the first Canadian Pediatric Asthma Guidelines.

Dr. Becker is Professor and until just recently, Head of the Section of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Manitoba and a Consultant Allergist at Children’s Hospital. He is Director of the Children’s Allergy and Asthma Education Centre at Children’s Hospital.

He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) and co-author of the online yearly updated GINA Global Strategy for Asthma Management and Prevention. His primary research interest is the origins of allergy and asthma in early life. He has led two birth cohorts (The Canadian Asthma Primary Prevention Study: CAPPS and the 1995 Manitoba birth cohort Study of Asthma Genes and the Environment: SAGE) focused on that area and is co-PI of the CIHR and AllerGen NCE supported Canadian Healthy Infant Longitudinal Development (CHILD) study. He serves on NIH Data Safety and Monitoring Boards for pediatric asthma studies. He has over 260 publications and 14,000 citations. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

After graduation from the University of Manitoba in 1969, Dr. Becker worked for a decade in Dauphin, MB as a Family doctor. He returned for training in Pediatrics and then Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Manitoba and the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Harold Booy has been active in providing the broadest level of rural Family Practice including emergency, obstetric and anaesthesia services, as well as inpatient and outpatient care for many years.

Dr. Booy has had a sincere and sustained commitment to work with Medical Missions and showed early interest while in medical school. Following three years of training in Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Anesthesia, Dr. Booy served for two years at Bach Christian Hospital in Northern Pakistan. In 1983 he joined the physicians in Winkler. He was dedicated to the practice of family medicine, anesthesia, obstetrics and emergency medicine at the Boundary Trails Health Centre. He taught and mentored medical students, residents and physician assistants. He worked in God’s River, Thompson and Flin Flon as well as medical projects in the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Dr Booy served on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors from 1994 – 2000 and 2004 – 2016. He also served on various committees of the Manitoba College of Family Physicians and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. He received the Doctors Manitoba Dr. Jack Armstrong Humanitarian Award in 2017.

In 2016 he moved to Steinbach and currently does anesthesia in Steinbach, Fort Frances and Kenora. Dr. Booy completed his medical degree at the University of Manitoba in 1977 and began practicing in Winkler in 1983.

Dr. Catherine Cook is an Indigenous (Métis) physician and has made Indigenous Health a priority in her career. She practiced as a family physician in remote northern nursing stations for several years before focusing on public health practice, and more recently health administration and management.

Currently, Dr. Cook has a joint role with the University of Manitoba as the Vice Dean, Indigenous Health, and as Head, Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, and at Shared Health as the Provincial Lead, Indigenous Health.

Dr. Cook has taken a leadership and operational role in the development and implementation of Indigenous Health programs and services that focus on addressing the gaps and barriers to equitable access of quality health care for Indigenous People in Manitoba. At Shared Health, Dr. Cook is working on an Indigenous Partnership Framework and the development of a health care system that recognizes and addresses the need for comprehensive quality health care for Indigenous People as close to home as possible. At the University, Dr. Cook took a Leadership role in the creation of an Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences – Ongomiizwin, officially approved by Senate in 2017.

Dr. Cook received her undergraduate and post graduate medical education at the University of Manitoba (1987, 1989, MSc. 2003).

Dr. James Ross is a rural-based general surgeon. He has represented Doctors Manitoba on a number of provincial health care organizations including the Medical Review Committee and the Standing Committee on Medical Manpower. He also served as Chair, Area Standards Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

Dr. Ross joined the Doctors Manitoba Board in 1986 and moved onto the Executive three years later as Honorary Secretary. He served as President of Doctors Manitoba from 1991 – 92. Dr. Ross also sat on the Doctors Manitoba Constitution and Bylaws Committee and the Finance and Membership Committee. In 2001, he was the recipient of the Doctors Manitoba Physician of the Year Award.

Dr. Ross has been an ATLS instructor as well as a Clinical Preceptor in both General Surgery and Family Practice. He played an instrumental role in lobbying for a smoking ban in all public buildings in Portage La Prairie. Dr. Ross has also served as a volunteer surgeon in Papua New Guinea.

Dr. Ross completed his Medical Degree in 1969 from the University of Manitoba and his specialist certification in 1974. He began practicing in Portage la Prairie in 1975.
