Doctors Manitoba has partnered with the Saskatchewan Medical Association, Doctors Nova Scotia, Newfoundland Labrador Medical Association, New Brunswick Medical Society, and the Medical Society of Prince Edward Island, to undertake a study to understand the equity barriers and discrimination practicing physicians from groups underrepresented in medicine experience in professional settings, and to seek ideas on solutions to address and prevent these personally and professionally harming experiences from occurring.

FOCUS GROUP INFO

  • Two dates available: Wed Jan 22 at 6:30PM or Thu Jan 30 at 6:30PM
  • Participants will receive a $180 honorarium for their time
  • Register here.

Participation in the study involves completing a demographic survey and attending one virtual 90-minute focus group with other practicing physicians in Manitoba. We are looking to recruit 24 physicians to participate in one of two focus groups.

Doctors Manitoba will use the research findings to advocate and act on your behalf to address the root causes of discrimination and inequity. The goal is to create change so that you and your colleagues and future generations of physicians thrive and have the support you need to provide excellent care to Manitobans.

If you are interested and/or have questions, please contact the study coordinator, Aynslie Hinds, at aynslie.hinds@outlook.com or 2042508325. The study is being led by Dr. Alan Katz, Dr. Lorna Turnbull (PhD), and Dr. Bunmi Fatoye and has received approval from the University of Manitoba’s Human Research Ethics Board.

Your participation is confidential.
