Description 

Doctors Manitoba is recruiting a Physician Data Analyst. This new role will be responsible for acquiring, managing, integrating, and analyzing data from various internal and external sources, helping to inform decisions and monitor results. The data you handle will include physician remuneration, physician resources and migration, member demographics, survey datasets, and financial data. You will collaborate with different teams within the organization to provide valuable insights through detailed analyses and data-driven recommendations, helping us to understand what the data is telling us. Ideally, candidates will be experienced in managing and managing data from multiple sources, working with subject matter experts to understand the analyses and insights needed, with a knack for data storytelling and visualization. 

Ultimately, you will play a key role in ensuring our priorities are driven by evidence- and data-based insights, helping us to tackle issues like the physician shortage while supporting our mandate to strengthen and support the whole physician, including their economic, physical, mental, and professional well-being.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Acquire, clean, and link data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Advise on data definitions and quality for Doctors Manitoba’s internal member database, ensuring integrity and security.
  • Conduct detailed analyses and reporting, including but not limited to:
    • Annual physician survey
    • Annual physician survey 
  • Annual physician resource statistics from CIHI and CPSM
  • Physician remuneration, including interprovincial comparisons of fee-for-service and alternate funded payments
  • Program statistics and key performance indicators used to monitor our operations and progress on our strategic plan
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their data needs and provide support in extracting and interpreting relevant information.
  • Support PAC team with interprovincial fee tariff database and other comparative compensation assessments.
  • Utilize data visualization and storytelling techniques to effectively communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare and contribute to various internal and public program and organizational reports.
  • Provide input on organizational strategies, operational plans and help implement new ideas and initiatives.
  • Provide input and assist with quality improvement, risk management, and business continuity planning activities.
  • Communicate with other programs to promptly resolve issues and clarify policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment and proficiency in maintaining privacy and security for data, including ensuring technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations, data analysis, storage, etc.)

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in data acquisition, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present findings in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Familiarity with Manitoba health care system and/​or physician remuneration an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload and independently complete a variety of tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.

Work Environment

Typical working conditions include daytime hours and the occasional weekend and evening work. In-office and hybrid work location options are available.
