Klinic Community Heath, located at 167 Sherbrook Street Winnipeg, MB, is a pro-choice community health centre that provides primary care, education and counselling services to our local community and throughout Manitoba. Position Summary:
Klinic community health physicians provide direct care to clients in Winnipeg, being seen for primary care, or to clients of our more specialized clinics, e.g. Gender Affirming Care, Addictions Treatment, STI, Pap. They may work with people of all ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. Duties include diagnosing and treating diseases, physiological disorders and inures of patients. You will act as the primary care provider and provide care toward the management of patient’s health. Physicians at Klinic provide care at our family practice clinic and at times in other community settings. Physicians at Klinic work independently and as part of a team, recognizing the impact of social determinants of health to the wellbeing of people and providing care within this context.
Qualifications:- Must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree
- Three years family practice experience preferred
- Interest and experience in community-based medicine
- Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, CCFP, or able to be registered
- Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) prescribing capacity required or must be willing to obtain an OAT license at the earliest opportunity
- Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset)
- Pro-choice
- Able to communicate appropriately cross-culturally
- Job duties must be completed in English
Responsibilities:
Primary Care
• Provide primary health care in a community setting,
• May provide specialized services in refugee health, Gender Affirming Care, MWMS, latent TB, Hepatitis C, HIV and OAT
• Opportunity to provide hospital inpatient care in partnership with physician colleagues, depending on skills and interest.
• Opportunity to participate in antenatal /- intrapartum care depending on skills and interest
• May provide home visits in the geographic community with Community Health Nurse
• Collaborate with Primary Health Care Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and all Klinic staff
• Participate in case conferences;
• Provide in-service education as requested;
• Documents accurate and pertinent client information in a timely manner, including maintenance of medical bands
• Knowledge of emergency procedures;
• Communicates effectively with all health team members to ensure client health needs are met
• Participates in after-hours and weekend on call services as part of Klinic’s Physician call schedule
• Designed weekend call may be part of clinical responsibilities;
