Description 

This a renewable two-year contract. The opportunity is to be on-site weekly for one hour to oversee the Occupational Health Services department at St. Amant.

The Occupational Health Physician generally oversees the medical and transfer of regulated medical functions to Nurses on services provided within Occupational Health Services (OHS). Below is the responsibilities and qualifications for the position.

Biennially reviews and signs off on standing orders for vaccines and related drugs.

Use of their name on blood work requisitions in relation to any required blood work employees require – either in relation to immunization updates, occupational exposures to blood/​body fluids and or any outbreak situations. 

TB Surveillance Program: Reviews employee histories of all positive Mantoux tests, reviews follow up Chest X‑Rays and recommends referrals when appropriate. Reviews and signs off on letters received back from TB Specialists.

Acts as a direct medical link and resource to OHS Nurses for issues that may arise: employee exposure to scabies, communicable diseases. 

Attends site weekly for one-hour for chart/​referral/​general incident reviews and to facilitate any employee visits related to Occupational Health Issues or concerns which may be required. 

Acts as a medical resource on WCB and or difficult return to works as needed. 

Qualifications:

• Medical License in Manitoba
• Must be licensed to practice medicine by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
• A valid Certificate of Practice is required.
• Occupational Medicine certification or experience is an asset.
• Experience in managing health issues related to complex environments like healthcare or social services is an asset.
• Experience managing teams, including nurses or other healthcare professionals is an asset.
