Reducing Admin Burdens
237 words / 1 min read
We’re making real progress on reducing excessive paperwork and administrative tasks for physicians. Today, we’re sharing a key update on one of our signature projects: eliminating sick notes and streamlining third-party requests from employers, schools, and insurers.
THE LATEST:
Meeting with key groups – We’ve engaged employer and union groups, insurers, and government leaders to push for change.
New web page launched – Making the evidence-based case for eliminating sick notes in Manitoba. Check it out!
We need your input – Take our quick survey to share your views and strengthen our case.
BEYOND SICK NOTES: We’re also tackling other third-party requests that slow you down, like medical certificates and doctors’ notes for accommodations, disability, and return to work. Our goal: standardized, consistent processes that work better for everyone.
SICK NOTES BY THE NUMBERS:
📌 601,307 sick notes per year = 36,000+ hours of physician time wasted
📌 1 in 3 sick note visits involve no symptoms, making them a false form of verification
📌 Eliminating sick notes could free up 302,716 visits for real medical concerns – the same as adding 50+ doctors!
📌 $8M+ taxpayer dollars wasted annually on sick-note-only visits
