FM+ was introduced nearly a year ago, and we’ve heard a lot of positive ways it’s supporting comprehensive primary care in family medicine practices.

REMINDERS: FM+ is new, so we are sharing some reminders to family physicians participating:

  • Be sure to claim your final quarter of FM+ panel and medical/mental health clusters for 2024/25.

  • Quarterly Panel and cluster payments may be claimed at the beginning of each quarter (April 1, July 1, October 1 and January 1).

  • The Comprehensive Care Management (CCM) tariffs have been deleted effective the end of December 2024. Check that all of your former CCM patients have migrated over to FM+ .

  • Stay up to date with your weekly indirect clinical services. These can be claimed on a weekly basis.

  • Ensure your FM+ claims align with the rules in the Physician’s Manual and the PCQI guidelines.

  • Remember when a patient consents to being enrolled in your practice, you have made a commitment to those patients to provide timely ongoing care, including monitoring and follow-up.

FM+ is a game changer. Our early monitoring suggests there are over 100 more family physicians practicing longitudinal family medicine than a year ago, including a mix of newly recruited physicians and long-time physicians who have come back to primary care. There are also over 100,000 more patients attached to a family doctor since FM+ was announced.

As with any new suite of tariffs, we expect claims are being closely scrutinized by Manitoba Health. It’s important to file claims in a timely way, and to ensure claims align with the rules and guidelines set by Manitoba Health. We anticipate the government may focus audits on these new tariffs, so it’s important to ensure your documentation is complete and demonstrates appropriate claims.
