Billing for Preoperative Visits

Preoperative history and physicals for dental surgery are insured for children. 

A physician performing a preoperative history and physical examination required before a child undergoes dental surgery under general anesthesia may bill Manitoba Health the fee Tariff 8540. 

This applies to children under the age of 6 years or children ages 6 – 15 with a serious pre-existing medical condition. Physicians are reminded that when creating claims for children ages 6 – 15, to include an explanatory diagnosis/​remark.
