Fluoroscopy and Contrast Agents
The following tariffs can be claimed for fluoroscopic control of spinal pain management procedures and for the injection of a contrast agent during the procedure.

- 5396* and 5398* are limited to anesthetists, specialists in physical medicine and other qualified physicians who have training in fluoroscopic control of percutaneous spinal pain management procedures;
- 5396* may only be claimed in conjunction with Tariffs 5300, 5304, 5305, 5306, 5307, 5308, 5309, 5313 or 5321;
- A maximum of 60 minutes per patient per day can be claimed for 5396*;
- 5398* may only be claimed once per patient per day.
These tariffs will be listed in the Physician’s Manual in Section C under Diagnostic and Therapeutic Anesthetic Procedures and in Section Q under the heading Nerve Blocks.
Doctors Manitoba – Billing Example Suppose a physician performs a cervical epidural block, lasting 35 minutes with fluoroscopic control and contrast. In that case:
