Doctors Manitoba is pleased to host a CMPA full-day workshop on Managing Disruptive Behaviours, May 8, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This course is designed to help physician leaders recognize workplace behaviours that impact patient safety, understand contributing factors, and take action using communication strategies, procedural fairness and a clear stepwise framework. 

Accredited for up to 7.5 hours. 

Faculty:

  • Dr. Heather Murray, MD, MSc, FRCP
    Dr. Heather Murray is a Physician Advisor with the CMPA’s Safe Medical Care Learning group. Prior to joining the CMPA, she served as an attending emergency physician for 26 years and continues to hold the rank of Professor of Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University. Dr. Murray has held multiple leadership roles and is a recipient of the Chancellor A. Charles Baillie Award, the highest teaching honour at Queen’s University. Click to read full bio.
  • Dr. Lisa Thurgur, MSc, MD, FRCPC
    Dr. Thurgur is an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa and an award winning educator with Royal College fellowships in emergency medicine and clinical pharmacology and toxicology. She has practiced emergency medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and The Ottawa Hospital and previously served as program director for the FRCPC emergency medicine residency program. With extensive experience in medical education, Dr. Thurgur is passionate about supporting physicians and trainees with the practical skills and insight needed to navigate challenging professional and medico legal situations.   • Guest: Adam Meyers, Associate Lawyer, MLT Aikins
    Adam maintains a civil and commercial litigation practice with particular focus on professional and medical malpractice defence and regulatory issues. He has experience advising a variety of professionals in terms of defending malpractice/​negligence lawsuits and responding to proceedings involving their governance and licensing. Adam has represented clients before the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench and Manitoba Court of Appeal, as well as before various regulatory bodies in the province. Click to read full bio.

Participants are required to complete a 50-minute eLearning activity prior to the workshop.
