This event is open to all Doctors Manitoba Members

Narrative-based medicine (NBM) is a growing field that seeks to humanize healthcare. Following a short introduction, attendees will participate in exercises that promote reflection on healthcare themes and clinician well-being. This interactive workshop will introduce participants to activities involving careful reading, close looking, and reflective writing, in a supportive and collegial environment. There will be opportunities to consider the application of these methods to professional practice and training. No writing experience necessary, and the sharing of one’s writing is completely optional.

This event offers 3 hours of certified continuing professional development hours and is certified for credits by Continuing Professional Development, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto for Mainpro+ and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Facilitators: Karen Gold, Ph.D.

What other physicians have said about this course:

Karen’s ability to structure a virtual class really impressed me. The 2.5 hours went by quickly and smoothly. She does a great job alternating exercises with discussion. She has a warm, caring energy that encourages student participation.”

Wonderful facilitator and modelled how to lead a workshop that nurtures safe sharing.”

I really appreciated the flow of this session and Karen made the online format of this workshop work well. Despite being many miles apart from one another, I felt as if I was in the same classroom as other participants.
