Ensure patients are of aware of your notice policies and the fees that may be charged for missed appointments.

Consider the particular circumstances that caused the patient to miss their appointment.

DO NOT

Bill for a missed appointment when you yourself were not available in a reasonably timely manner.

Charge a fee that is greater than the visit you would have provided.

Doctors Manitoba recommends that fees for missed appointments not be charged when patients provide greater than 24 – 48 hours notice.

To reduce missed appointments during the pandemic, Doctors Manitoba recommends you consider providing a virtual care option for patients who are following public health guidance to isolate due to COVID-19 symptoms.
