Medical-legal reports are essential to the legal process of adjudicating claims for personal injury. A well-prepared medical-legal report will contribute significantly to the proper and just resolution of a claim for personal injury, expedite the process, reduce cost, and may avoid the necessity of a court appearance by the physician.

Non-treating physicians may be approached by lawyers (the Crown Attorney’s office, criminal defence lawyers, personal injury lawyers, or others) to testify as expert witnesses. A physician has the choice to decide if they wish to be an expert witness.

The following provides a general description of the more common types of insurance forms and a recommended fee for each.

The vast majority of services provided by Physicians in Manitoba are insured and paid for by Manitoba Health. However, in certain circumstances other entities are responsible for insuring those services.

There are certain categories of refugee patients that may not be eligible (yet) for Manitoba Health insurance coverage. Many of these patients will have coverage through the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).
