Call for Nominations
Winnipeg Family Physician Medical District – Three Positions Available
Doctors Manitoba is governed by physician members chosen by peers from various districts in the province. These medical district representatives sit on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors and make key decisions on behalf of the membership. These decisions are driven by our mission to strengthen and support the whole physician. We do this by advocating for physicians’ professional, economic and personal well-being, with the vision that every physician has the support they need to deliver exceptional care to Manitobans.
We are currently seeking nominations for eligible physicians to serve as one of three representatives for the Winnipeg Family Physician Medical District on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors for the 2025 – 2027 term. This term will run from June 2025 to May 2027.
Nominations will be accepted until 3 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025.
You can view the complete Eligible Physician List here. Any physician whose name appears on the list is eligible to be nominated to serve on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors for this district. If more than three candidates are nominated, an electronic ballot will be conducted between March 28 and April 18, 2025.
What’s expected of a Board Director?
The Board sets the strategic agenda for Doctors Manitoba, ensuring it is supporting members and advocating on top priorities and concerns of the medical profession.
Board meetings are held six times per year (June, September, November, January, March, May), typically on a Wednesday from 9 am – 3 pm. Directors are expected to review the detailed agenda and Board package prior to the meeting. There are additional opportunities to serve on various Committees, and to attend events, Directors should plan to attend our Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Gala.
New Directors’ first Board meeting will be Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 9:00 am. The Board Orientation will be held in person on the evening of May 21, 2025. We ask all candidates to hold these days in their calendars.
Board of Director terms last for two years, with a maximum of three consecutive terms (up to six years total).
