Dr. Ahmad Khalil is a full-scope family physician practicing in the Southern Health district in the rural community of Ste. Anne, where he provides clinical care, works as a hospitalist, and serves in the emergency department. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he completed his medical training in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, followed by four years of residency in General Surgery. After moving to Montréal in the 1990s, he earned both an MSc and PhD at the Montréal Heart Institute in the Pathology Department at the University of Montréal, and later completed postdoctoral training in immunology at the Montréal Clinical Research Institute, focusing on HIV vaccine research. 

Dr. Khalil relocated to Winnipeg to serve as Medical Director of Medicure, a biotechnology company developing treatments for ischemic heart disease. He later completed postgraduate studies at Harvard in thrombotic disease and thrombosis management, and gained clinical experience in the Cardiac Sciences Program at St. Boniface Hospital before entering the IMGMLP pathway and earning full medical licensure in Manitoba. As a prospective board member, he is committed to supporting physicians at all stages of their careers, advocating for fair compensation, strengthening rural practice supports, and promoting physician wellness.

Dr. Eric Lane has served as the Southern District representative on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors for the past two years, and is a member of the Finance, Audit & Risk (FAR) and Governance Committees.

He has worked in Southern Health for almost 35 years, and currently serves at the C.W.Wiebe Medical Centre and Boundary Trails Health Centre as a full service rural family doctor. He is a current Doctors Manitoba board member and has served on the Finance, Audit & Risk (FAR) and Governance Committees.

Dr. Lane graduated from the University of Cape Town and he took further training in Oslo, Norway as a Norwegian international medical graduate. 

He is married, has three adult children and two granddaughters. Dr. Lane enjoys the outdoors, golf and curling, runs for exercise, including having done 12 full marathons (including the Athens Marathon) and more than 25 half-marathons.
