Resident physicians are invaluable members of Doctors Manitoba. Residents play a crucial role in nearly all Doctors Manitoba activities, setting the course for the current and future direction of the medical profession.
The Professional Association of Residents and Interns of Manitoba, commonly referred to as “PARIM”, is the exclusive bargaining agent for all resident physicians.
Doctors Manitoba, in close and consistent consultation with PARIM, is proud to negotiate PARIM’s Collective Agreement with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. It also provides advice and representation regarding the proper interpretation, application and enforcement of the Collective Agreement, as well as broader organizational and political advice.
Listed below are some of the things that Doctors Manitoba does with and for Residents:
Doctors Manitoba negotiates on behalf of PARIM and Residents its Collective Agreement with the WRHA. We have expertise that we have developed over the years to help Residents get paid for the hard work that they do. We also work with Residents and PARIM to ensure that residency programs are following the Collective Agreement and that you are being scheduled and paid properly. After helping Residents for decades, we have the experience necessary to have developed insurance specifically for you. We have tailored these insurance products to you and the protection you need. Our goal is to provide you with the best, most reliable information and options, all on a not-for-profit basis

On your very first day of work, we’ll be there! We’ll walk you through what you need to know as you start the next step of your career. We’ll stand in front of you and commit to you that we’ll do everything we can to help you throughout your residency and beyond.
As your residency nears completion, you’ll start thinking about what you need to do to prepare for practice. You’ll have questions and we’ll have the answers. We often hold seminars to teach you about how to transition from residency to practice so you can hit the ground running and to take advantage of tips from those that have gone before you. Check out our Transition to Practice information here
As part of transitioning to practice, you may get presented with a contract for a new job or practice opportunity. Often we are able to provide you with advice about that contract and suggests areas to discuss. Contact Braden Kalichuk at (204) 985-5848
You didn’t go through residency to take just any job. You want the job that works best for you and your family. There are so many job sites out there and it’s hard to figure out what’s what. We have aggregated the best of them in one spot here so you don’t have to waste your time Google-searching for jobs! To review, click here
The Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors helps set the course for the medical profession throughout Manitoba. Residents are an important part of the decision-making. That’s why the Residents have a representative on the Board! Your voice matters.
We offer a special Resident rate for membership to keep your costs down and more money in your pocket. This amount will be deducted from your pay throughout the academic year. Your membership in Doctors Manitoba includes full participation in Doctors Manitoba activities, voting on the Master Agreement.
Doctors Manitoba is happy to be able to host the PARIM website and email domain so PARIM doesn’t have it. This helps keep your cost down.
We work closely with PARIM staff to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible for you, whether it’s membership dues or on-call pay. We’re here to help you and PARIM staff so that we can get the job done for you as efficiently as possible. The PARIM Executive Director works out of the Doctors Manitoba office twice a week.
