Boundary Trails Health Centre — Orthopedic Surgeon

Southern Health-Santé Sud and the Boundary Trails Health Centre – Surgery Program invite applications for a General Orthopedic Surgeon. This is a rural practice for a distinctly unique General Orthopedic Program. The Boundary Trails Health Centre is a community-based hospital which partners with local Medical Clinics providing physician support services to the hospital and community.

This Surgeon position is part of a team of four (4) General Orthopedic Surgeons who share a balanced call schedule, equitable operating time, and a team approach to fulfill hospital obligations. Call responsibilities are expected to be one (1) in four (4). Other responsibilities include surgical participation in the Provincial Manitoba Orthopedic Surgery Program, General Orthopedic Trauma, with a substantial part of the practice providing general arthroplasty and non-arthroplasty surgeries for patients referred locally and from across the province. This position encompasses the responsibility of inpatient and ambulatory patient care and requires those individuals with clinical and teaching skills to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and promotion of rural surgical services.

The Boundary Trails Health Centre – Orthopedic Program incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective orthopedic, arthroplasty and non-arthroplasty surgery. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba and have successfully completed the certifying examinations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Orthopedic Surgery. Arthroplasty Fellowship training is required. Additional Fellowship training in any of the following areas is preferred: Trauma, Foot & Ankle.
