Description 

The University of Manitoba (UM) invites applications for a part-time (0.4 EFT, 16 hours/​week) International Medical Graduate Training Program Director for a 2‑year term, within the International Medical Graduate (IMG) Program in the Department of Family Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. The expected salary for this position is $72,424.69.

IMG programs offer multiple streams to enable trainees to practice medicine in Manitoba. Two assessment programs and a training program are augmented by mandatory orientation and mentorship opportunities to help trainees better understand and adapt to the Canadian healthcare system.

Responsibilities :

Under the direction of the IMG Program Director, the IMG Training Program Director ensures the use of comprehensive evaluation methods to assess trainees during training, including but not limited to ITERs and OSCE type evaluations, and propose new competency-based evaluation methods based on the new CANMEDS framework. The incumbent will also collaborate in the recruitment and expansion of faculty for the IMG program and assist in the development of faculty development modules. In addition, the IMG Training Director will play a key role in program development, including development and renewal of curricula for the program. The individual will also be involved in the program operation, including assisting in placement of IMG trainees at sites and coordinating the academic day program.

Qualifications :

  • Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, preferably based in Winnipeg.
  • Currently holds, or is eligible for, a University of Manitoba appointment.
  • Eligible for, or holds current membership in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Generally knowledgeable in Postgraduate Medical Education, IMG education, and longitudinal professional development.
