2 — Permanent Positions (Part Time / Full Time)
Prairie Mountain Health is currently recruiting family physicians to join the Hospitalist group at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Applicants are encouraged to apply for either a full time permanent position or part time permanent position. Please indicate on your coverletter what EFT you are interested in working. A full time position is a 1:2 rotation (26 weeks per year) and a part time position is a 1:4 rotation (13 weeks per year).
The Brandon Regional Health Centre has 313 beds with a moderate-volume ER and a 10-bed ICU providing care to medical and surgical patients. Diagnostic Services consist of Radiology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine. Other medical programs include Dialysis, Chemotherapy, Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Respirology, and Gastroenterology. There are over 100 physicians, including family physicians and specialists, with admitting privileges at the health centre, and numerous medical clinics located throughout the city.
- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
- CCFP or FRCPC required.
- Must be a member in good standing with Canadian Medical Protective Association and have coverage under the appropriate category.
- Must have experience managing hospitalized patients.
The primary role of the hospitalist is to care for patients presenting to the hospital requiring inpatient admission who do not have a physician with admitting privileges. During the current pandemic, the hospitalists will also be responsible to care for patients on the Covid-19 Unit. In serving as the Most Responsible Physician, you will manage all care including work-up, appropriate referrals, planning discharge and liaising with the community primary care provider. The work week is Monday through to Sunday, on site from 0800 — 1700 hours. The on-call responsibility is a minimum average of 3 nights per week of work. .
Remuneration: Remuneration is in accordance with the agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.

Prairie Mountain Health covers an area of 66, 201 square kilometers on the southwestern side of the Province of Manitoba with a population in excess of 180,000. Brandon is a thriving city with a population of over 53 000, located 200 km west of Winnipeg on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and lengthy commutes. Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts and science programs. Riding Mountain National Park is one hour north of the city, and the Peace Gardens are situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south. There are numerous other recreational areas in western Manitoba. Dubbed “the Host City”, Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base land many provincial, national and international events. The “Wheat City” is an excellent community in which to raise children or retire.
