Flu Shots – Seasonal Vaccinations
All Manitobans are eligible for the influenza vaccine free of charge. If the patient’s sole reason for the appointment is to receive a flu shot, only claim the appropriate immunization tariff. Tariff 8791 is used for influenza injections and Tariff 8969 is to be used for intranasal. A visit fee may be claimed in addition only if:
- The patient receives the flu shot at the same time as he/she is being assessed for a condition or illness, or
- Prior to administering the flu shot, the physician discusses with the patient the suitability of receiving the flu shot, possible adverse reactions and obtains the patient’s informed consent.
Physicians are reminded they must participate in the administration of the injection in order to claim the appropriate tariff.
