Coverage for Childbirth

Childbirth has been included under our Disability Income Insurance Plan coverage since March 14, 2012.

If as of this date you held Disability Income insurance coverage and delivered a child, you may be eligible to make a claim for retroactive payment, plus interest.

As stipulated under the policy, the claim payment is equal to 6 weeks for a routine delivery and 8 weeks for a caesarean section after your 30-day elimination period.

Please note that if at the time of your delivery, your coverage had a greater than 30-day elimination period, you are likely ineligible to make a claim for retroactive payment as the elimination period would not have been satisfied until after benefits for delivery would have ended.

If you think you may be eligible to receive a retroactive payment plus applicable interest, please contact Mark Venton, Insurance Coordinator at 204-985-5846 or mventon@doctorsmanitoba.ca  to confirm whether you had a routine delivery or caesarean section.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding our policy on retroactive payment, please contact Theresa Oswald, CEO at CEO@doctorsmanitoba.ca.
