Developed in collaboration with the Canadian Society of Physician Leaders (CSPL) and LEADS Global, this game-based learning activity fills the gap in the non-linear educational resources on Leadership in Healthcare. The activity broadly applies to general leadership and is designed to help physicians to practice, self-assess, and refine their leadership skills. Focusing on the first three domains of the LEADS in a Caring Environment Framework for Leadership Development; Lead Self, Engage Others and Achieve Results, the activity incorporates game based motivators, simulated situations, and self-assessment with evidence-based feedback.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this simulation-based learning activity, you will be able to:

  • Integrate the domains and capabilities within the LEADS in a Caring Environment capabilities framework into your leadership activities.
  • Reflect on the challenges of taking on a formal leadership role in a healthcare environment.
  • Assess and develop your personal leadership capabilities using the LEADS framework.

Intended Audience

This activity is best suited for those who are interested in exploring leadership development or practicing leadership skills in a safe environment. This includes Resident Affiliates and Fellows of the Royal College (all specialties and subspecialties), Family Physicians and members of Canadian Society of Physician Leaders (CSPL).
