Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health have entered into an agreement to compensate physicians who provide off-site on-call coverage to licensed Personal Care Homes (“PCHs”) throughout the province during “after-hours” periods (from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day on weekend days and statutory holidays).
Manitoba Health funds each Regional Health Authority (“RHA”) to pay each licensed PCH within the RHA an annual stipend of $119.20 per licensed bed or $11,922.70 per PCH facility, whichever stipend is greater, for PCH on-call services.
The annual stipend amount paid to each licensed PCH will, on a quarterly basis, be divided amongst the PCH On-Call Physicians who have provided on-call coverage to the PCH throughout the prior quarter in accordance with the amount of on-call coverage that each On-Call Physician has provided.
PCH On-Call Physicians will also be eligible to submit fee-for-service claims for insured medical services provided to PCH residents during the period of on-call coverage and to direct bill patients and/or third parties for uninsured services provided during the on-call coverage period.
A detailed description of the duties of PCH On-Call Physicians is contained within the PCH On-Call Agreement, a copy of which may be obtained by contacting Doctors Manitoba.
