We have now opened up the application process for the COVID-19 Isolation Support benefit for physicians.
The new benefit was established following months of advocacy by Doctors Manitoba. Physicians face risks of infection and exposure every day, and now you will be supported if you have to follow public health and occupational health guidelines to self-isolate.
If you’ve had to isolate due to COVID-19 symptoms, diagnosis or work-related exposure, you may be eligible for this new benefit. Compensation can be claimed for missed working days due to COVID illness or isolation. The full eligibility criteria and support details are posted online, along with an application form. The COVID-19 Isolation Support covers missed working days starting on September 28, 2020.
The COVID-19 Isolation Support benefit is administered by Doctors Manitoba, with eligibility criteria, coverage and funding established by the Province of Manitoba.
Learn more and access the application form. As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize our services for you, you can apply online and your support payment will be deposited electronically into your bank account.
You can read more about the background of this new support in a recent President’s Letter from Dr. Cory Baillie.
We are looking for your advice on two important topics. First, about what physicians need to be ready when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine campaign. Second, your thoughts on how Manitobans can be supported over the next month of restrictions.
Complete our quick survey to help us understand what physicians need when it comes to the COVID vaccine. Do you need information and resources to help advise your patients? Do you need to know how prioritized at-risk patients will be identified for immunization? Are you interested in playing a role in delivering the COVID vaccine?
Take our survey now, so Doctors Manitoba is well-positioned to advocate for what physicians need now and over the next few months as the vaccine starts rolling out.
Yesterday, Manitoba unveiled its vaccine plans and Health Canada approved the first vaccine for use in Canada. See our summary from yesterday on what we know so far.
Restrictions and Supporting Manitobans
With restrictions now extended through the holidays to early January, we want to hear from you. Let us know if you are worried about compliance with the orders, how worried you are about your patients well-being through this difficult period, and what supports could help Manitobans make it through the holidays with these restrictions in place.
Take our short survey to share your views.
