With the legalization of recreational cannabis, you may find that more patients want to talk to you about its use. This can be approached similar to conversations about other controlled substances, like alcohol and tobacco.

Doctors Manitoba has put together a toolkit based on amalgamated resources from reliable sources, including Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, Canadian Medical Association, and Government of Canada.

This toolkit provides information about some health risks associated with recreational cannabis use and considerations so that doctors are better equipped to guide a conversation with patients about recreational cannabis use.

This toolkit is intended for discussions about recreational cannabis and is not intended to inform discussions about medicinal cannabis used for therapeutic purposes nor the legality of use. Health impacts from recreational cannabis use can vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to: age of user, THC levels, consumption method and frequency of use.

This is not intended to be medical or legal advice.
